Coming hot off the heels of Complexity’s domination of the first event, Carbon Entertainment is excited to announce Carbon Masters November 2016! Last month, spectators witnessed all the reasons why the North American professional Overwatch scene is so contentious: all participating teams showed the that they’ve got the skill to compete with as best. Now teams will again get the chance to qualify for the Playoffs, and contend with the elite for the glory and their share of $7,500.

Carbon Masters Playoffs – November 19th, 11:00 AM PST/2:00 PM EST

Carbon Entertainment will invite 6 teams to participate immediately in the Carbon Masters Playoffs. Teams who’ve performed well in previous Carbon Masters Playoff events get on the fast track to the main stage, so fans can expect to see returning teams among the list of invitees, aiming to strive for more success.

Carbon Masters Qualifying Event – November 12th, 3:00 PM PST/6:00 PM EST

Carbon Entertainment will host a Masters Qualifying Event, for teams who think they’ve got what it takes to go head to head with the best in Overwatch. Teams will be able to register this week on Battlefy. The top two teams in the Qualifying Event will be seeded into the Playoffs. However, this is but one step on their journey to success; seeding from the Qualifying Event places a team directly against the highest seeded invited teams. The bigger the obstacle, the sweeter the victory.

Regarding the Master Qualifying Event

The Masters Qualifying Event (MQE) allows wildcard teams the ability to play with the best, and hone their skills in a competitive setting. We received awesome community and participant feedback, and have decided to make some adjustments.

While we want to provide an open entry platform, we understand the desire for lower time commitments for teams, especially with the circumstance that succeeding in the MQE only provides a seed in the playoffs. With that in mind, here are some of the major changes coming to the MQE:

  • The Qualifying event will start at 3:00 PM PST on Saturday, allowing teams to better plan their time around the event.
  • Matches will be Best of 1s for the entirety of the MQE; this expedites the tournament process, as Best of 3s provide a smaller return for the increased time commitment.
  • The Top 8 matches will still be streamed, but there will be no long break between reaching the Top 8 and beginning matches.
    • Further, with the Bo1 change, teams will not wait extended periods of time for broadcasted matches.

Regarding Regions

The Carbon Masters is currently relegated to North American teams. Although regions such as South America and Europe offer equally exciting competition, the Masters is currently centered in NA for resource and logistical reasons. Carbon Entertainment is actively working towards a proper platform(s) to allow this competition to expand to other regions, as early as the December 2016 event!
